Plug Into Your True Source Of Joy!

I recently watched a court show where an older couple, probably in their mid-60s, was in court for a traffic offense. During the proceedings, the judge asked the husband how long they had been married. He answered, "44 years." Then the judge asked, "How long have you been happy in your marriage, and what's the source of your longevity?" Without hesitation, the husband replied, "I've been happy for 44 years because I make my wife happy by always saying yes to her." The judge chuckled and turned to the wife, asking her the same question. She paused for a moment and said, "I've been happy for only 2 years out of the 44."

This stuck with me. The wife wasn't happy, even though the husband was trying to please her by saying yes to everything she wanted. Despite his efforts, she couldn’t find true happiness.

The key takeaway here: your happiness cannot be found in someone else. You must build it yourself, tapping into the right source. Have you ever asked yourself what truly makes you happy?

Take a moment to write down the top three things that make you happy. Are they entirely dependent on others, or do you have a role in creating your own happiness? If your happiness relies solely on someone else doing something for you, it might be time for a reassessment.

For me, joy is found in Christ. As the Bible says in Nehemiah 8:10, "The joy of the Lord is my strength." This joy is the true source of strength, peace, and vitality for life.

Your joy is closer than you think. It's right there—plug into God, your true source of happiness. Stop waiting for others—your spouse, friends, coworkers, or even family—to give you what only God can provide. Depend on Him today.
